Our state’s heat doesn’t just come from its desert location along the Equator; it also comes from the giftedness of our local musicians! But where can you go to witness the spectacle of their unique rhythmic genius? There are a number of live concert & music venues in Arizona to visit, so it can be hard to decide where to begin. Below, we’ve put together a short list of the some of our favorite places to experience the awesome live music Arizona offers. We hope you enjoy these creative spaces, engaging performers, and their energetic environments as much as we do!
The Rhythm Room
Central Phoenix plays host to nightly acts in rhythm and blues at the Rhythm Room, from blues harmonica to boogie-woogie piano. Local vocalists such as Big Pete Pearson and Leon Russel frequent the place.
Flagstaff’s Hotel Weatherford in the historic downtown district is home to Charly’s Pub, where locals go to hear folk, rock, and blues music and grab a great brew of beer. Supposedly, the many purported ghosts, circa the 1900’s, enjoy the music too.
Housed within the historic Hotel Congress, Club Congress has hosted the likes of Nirvana, No Doubt, and Tucson native Linda Rondstadt. The pueblo deco décor sets the scene for uniquely Arizonan acts.
Rusty Spur Saloon
One of our favorite Arizona concert venues, the Rusty Spur Saloon, is the place to be for local Western and country music. Modern day country music legends are said to frequent this bar after performing locally.
The Spirit Room
Holed up in a building constructed in 1898, the Spirit Room is a popular establishment in Jerome for its bluegrass, rockabilly, blues, and rock performances, which have continued since the 1960’s.
