Scottsdale Golf in the Fall

As the days start to get shorter and the temperatures start to drop, listen very carefully and you will begin to hear the stirrings of Arizonans opening up their curtains, peaking outside and trying to determine if it is finally cool enough to golf! Okay, it’s not like the avid players in our state have ever stopped playing…but now they are remembering what it’s like to not be baked alive whilst doing so! Scottsdale in the fall is one of the most beautiful times of year and as such, the courses are coming to life once more…and the cooler temperatures come with an added benefit. Tourist season has not yet begun, meaning the courses will not be crowded and slow. It will be almost like having your own private golf club!

Fall in Scottsdale

While it’s not the time of year to bring out your corduroys and jackets, fall in Scottsdale can be quite lovely. This is where the infamous “dry heat” you have heard of comes into play. While the temperatures may still sound too hot (in September day-time highs still rise to about 100 degrees), the dry air will have you feeling as if it’s about 15 to 20 degrees cooler. As the sun sets however, it cools down to a comfortable 70 some degrees, and gets even cooler in October and November. Our trees don’t start changing colors until closer to December, but fall in Scottsdale is still a beautiful time of year.

The courses

We’re not bragging, but did you know that there are nearly 200 golf courses in Scottsdale alone? Elegant, elaborate, and challenging ones…small, quick, and easy ones. If you can think it, we probably have it, and chances are whatever it is, ours is better! (okay…maybe we are bragging a little bit!) Our favorite…and most well-known is listed below, but Troon and Legend Trail Golf Club also hold a special spot in our hearts!

TPC- Home to the Waste Management Open, Scottsdale’s TPC is perhaps the most well-known of all our courses and is one of our more beautiful ones as well. Set against the majestic backdrop of the McDowell Mountains, the acres of rolling greens make it difficult to believe you’re still in the desert.
