Things To Do Near Our Downtown Phoenix Rentals

There’s always something to do when living in downtown Phoenix: take in a ball game, visit the zoo, hike in the mountains, even plan a visit to the nearby, newly opened OdySea Aquarium—and all this is just the beginning!

Downtown Phoenix is home to sophisticated shops selling designer clothing and rich jewelry, elegant restaurants serving haute cuisine, or simple Mexican restaurants serving authentic foods you will truly miss when it’s (sadly) time to return home and to real life; no one does Mexican the way we do!

Our museums are world class. The Heard Museum, the Phoenix Art Museum, and even the Musical Instrument Museum all offer exhibits that can compete with the museums found in higher profile cities such as New York, or Los Angeles.

The weather is wonderful pretty much 365 days out of the year, with the exception of a few rainy days, the occasional monsoon, and even some snow flurries in some of our surrounding cities. For more information on Arizona weather, check out http://www.visitarizona.com/planning/weather.

Top Downtown Restaurants and Bars

Bitter & Twisted Cocktail Parlour

The food offered at this hip, dark and lively watering hole is sometimes overlooked as little more than a nosh to go along with Ross Simon’s impressive catalog of creative libations, but that’s a rookie mistake. Chef Bob Tam is one of the Valley’s most talented Asian chefs. Although his creations are brash, sometimes zany and meant to pair with booze, they’re built on his formidable knowledge of classic Asian ingredients and techniques, as evidenced by dishes like the Dragon Dumpling Burger. If there’s any justice in this world, Tam’s hedonistic take on a bar classic, seasoned to mimic Chinese shengjianbao, will catch on as a superior successor to the ramen burger.

Blue Hound Kitchen & Cocktails

Though Sean Currid leads the new regime at Blue Hound, the Southern-inflected spirit of Stephen Jones’ original menu remains, and there are some formidable offerings. Delicate fried green tomatoes with a crab-spiked remoulade and crisp and creamy corn-grit fries set the stage for a saucy shrimp and grits that reaches a forgivable level of excess.

Matt’s Big Breakfast

The menu at Matt’s isn’t much to look at, but that’s because this popular spot separates itself from the increasingly crowded breakfast market with substance rather than pizzazz. Classic A.M. dishes are carefully prepared with superlative ingredients, putting most of the city’s trendy, flashy breakfast joints to shame. And though the morning meal is Matt’s claim to fame, he makes a mighty fine lunch as well, including a great BLT and Reuben. Bring back some leftovers to your house for rent in downtown Phoenix; they’ll taste just as great heated up the next day!

Pomo Pizzeria Napoletana

There are enough great downtown pizzerias to fill their own list. But with apologies to the excellent La Piazza PHX, Cibo and Forno 301, we feel compelled to complement Bianco’s neo-Neapolitan with Pomo’s outstanding traditional Neapolitan pies. Wet in the center, beautifully blistered at the boundaries and forged in a wood-fired oven from a paucity of perfect ingredients, their Vera Pizza Napoletana-approved Bufala Verace is imbued with equal parts history and flavor. Make sure to take a trip from your downtown Phoenix rental to eat at this delicious pizza place!
