Spring Training Baseball Locations

Spring Training in Arizona

While much of the rest of the US is still wearing parkas, shoveling snow, and trying to avoid the black ice on the roads, we in Arizona are basking in the sunshine as March nears and we start preparing for yet another spring activity: Major League Baseball’s Spring Training Cactus League! Sports fans in the valley start planning their excuses—mother-in-law’s coming to town, prostate exam is scheduled over 2 days, or even the oldest child’s “college tour” has been extended; it’s going to take most of March to see all the schools she has planned!

We’re an inventive bunch when it comes to excuses to get out of work, but if you’re planning your Arizona vacation for this time, you don’t have to lie to your boss. You can spend your entire trip watching the games without having to worry about being caught in a lie on television!

The Cactus League Teams

Springtime in the desert is the most beautiful time of the year. Temperatures stay mild, the sun is nearly always shining, and we get the opportunity to watch our favorite MLB teams play the game in more intimate surroundings than during the season and under more relaxed circumstances! The MLB teams that play here are: The Angels, Athletics, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Giants, Rangers, Royals, Mariners, Padres, Rockies, Dodgers, White Sox, Reds, Indians, Brewers, and 2016’s World Series champions, the Chicago Cubs!

Where Do They Play?

Spring Training is spread out over the valley. Below, we have listed each stadium, the city in which they play, and the teams associated with each stadium.

Peoria/Surprise – The Peoria Sports Complex is the spring training home of the Mariners and the Padres, and the Rangers and Royals play at Surprise Stadium.

Scottsdale/Fountain Hills – Salt River Fields hosts hometown the favorite D-Backs and the Rockies, while Scottsdale Stadium is where you will find the Giants playing.

Glendale/Goodyear – Camelback Ranch holds the Dodgers and the White Sox, the Brewers play at Maryvale Stadium, and Goodyear Ballpark is home to the Reds and the Indians.

Tempe/Phoenix – Phoenix Municipal Stadium hosts the Athletics, while Tempe’s Diablo Stadium is home to the Angels.

Mesa – Sloan Park, a smaller version of Wrigley Field, is home to the Chicago Cubs. Our Chicago transplants love visiting the park and getting a taste of home—without the nasty weather!
